The $20 Easter Egg

How do you celebrate Easter?

Even though my kids are adults, they asked their mom last Easter if she would have an Easter egg hunt. And since they are adults, we decided to “up the ante.”

Sure, we had an assortment of candy in eggs, including their favorites. But we had one gold egg with a $20 bill in it, and some other “speckled” eggs with $5 and $1 bills in them.

My family is very competitive (they must get that from their mom…okay, maybe not). So things got a little ugly. Sibling rivalry kicked in. They got a bit too aggressive, especially when two spotted the same egg at the same time. The other siblings were not too happy with the one who got the most money. It made for a delightful Easter afternoon. Welcome to our family.

I said to my wife later that day, “Maybe we shouldn’t do that next year.”

Easter is supposed to be a celebration. There is so much to celebrate for a follower of Jesus!

How do we celebrate Easter at The Ridge? We invite our friends!

We invite our friends who normally don’t go to church. We give Easter to our friends. We want them to feel welcomed and valued. The best way to celebrate Easter is to have your friend sitting next to you in church.

We have been praying for and planning Easter for months. We plan our Easter services through the eyes of your friends. I’m excited about what is planned!

Remember, there are 3 services: Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 9:30 and 11:00 a.m.

Whatever it takes,

Jerry
