Vision & Values
Our Vision:
"To do whatever it takes to reach our community for Christ.”
Our Values:
We believe that ministry should flow out of which we believe is important to us, what is valued. To that end, all we do around The Ridge flows out of the following values:
- We believe the Bible is the foundation and authority for the church. Everything about our church is to flow from this core value.
This includes the Bible/doctrine being the foundation and authority for the church and the belief that sound biblical teaching is the catalyst for transforming individuals and the church. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; James 1:23-25; Joshua 1:8; Psalm 119:105; 2 Timothy 4:2; Hebrews 4:12; Acts 2:42; 1 Timothy 4:13)
- We believe that the church is to bring glory to God in all things.
This includes personal and corporate worship, cultural relevancy, excellence, creativity, intentionality, integrity, and commitment. (1 Corinthians 10:31; Psalm 9:1; John 4:23-24; 1 Corinthians 9:19-23; 1 Corinthians 14:40; Colossians 3:17; Acts 20:22-24; Ephesians 4:22-24)
- We believe the church is to be characterized by sensitivity to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
This includes the various ministries of the Holy Spirit such as the indwelling and filling of the believer, enabling believers to worship the Father in spirit and truth, interceding for the believer in prayer, the distribution of spiritual gifts, and the empowering of the believer to know God, make Him known to others, and to accomplish the work of God through us. (John 14:16-17; Zechariah 4:6; John 16:13-14; Romans 8:9, 14; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Ephesians 5:18-6:9; Galatians 5:22-23; Romans 8:26; John 4:23-24; Acts 1:8)
- We believe that lost people matter to God and they are to matter to the church.
This includes relational evangelism to reach our community, our nation, and our world, and the support and training of missionaries around the world. (Romans 9:1-3; Matthew 28:19-20; Luke 19:10; 2 Peter 3:9; Luke 15; John 3 & 4; Acts 1:8)
- We believe the church is to model biblical community.
This includes caring for people through prayer, physical, emotional, spiritual, and financial support, providing accountability, speaking the truth in love, and providing opportunities in which these can take place. (Acts 2:42-47; Acts 4:32-35; Ecclesiastes 4:9-10; Ephesians 4:15, 25-27, 29; Colossians 3:12-14)
- We believe that believers are to be committed to a lifelong process of spiritual growth and discipleship.
This includes authentic Christianity permeating our lives (our relationship to God, home, family, church work, and community), the full devotion of believers to the cause of Christ, and believers that continue to grow in the fullness of God’s grace. (Philippians 1:6; Philippians 3:7-10; Colossians 1:10; 1 Thessalonians 1:3; 2 Peter 3:18; Romans 8:29; 2 Timothy 2:2; Hebrews 12:1-3)
- We believe that all believers are to steward their spiritual gifts, time, talents, and financial resources for the accomplishment of God’s purposes.
This includes the concepts that all we have belongs to God, that all believers are ministers, and that ministry should be accomplished based on spiritual giftedness. (Matthew 6:19-20; Matthew 6:33; Psalm 24:1-2; Psalm 90:12; Matthew 25:14-30; 1 Corinthians 12-14; Ephesians 5:15-16)
- We believe that the family is central to God’s purposes and plan and therefore is to be a core focus of the church.
This includes placing a strong emphasis on family training and values and attracting and training young people and, therefore, their families. (Deuteronomy 6:6-7; Psalm 127; Genesis 2:24; Ephesians 5:22-6:4; 1 Peter 3:1-9)
