Jerry's Blog: 4 Reasons to Go the the Holy Land

"The roughly 40 historical biblical sites we were able to see and experience such as floating in the Dead Sea, riding a camel in the desert, and taking a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee made nearly every moment of this trip one that I will remember for a lifetime."

Those are the words of Ted, who went on the most recent trip to Israel. The phrase “once in a lifetime trip” was used frequently by those who went!

On October 25, 2021, we will be headed to Israel again for a 10-day trip. While words can’t fully describe what you will experience, here are 4 reasons why you should consider going to the Holy Land.

1. Because you’ll never read the Bible the same again.

It takes your Bible reading from 2D to 3D. You picture in your mind what you are reading. You’ve seen for yourself Jerusalem, the Sea of Galilee, and where David fought Goliath.

I can’t wait to open the Bible with you and talk about the significance of a story or passage, right where it happened!

Barb, who said she is homesick to go back (and plans to go again), expressed, “The trip has opened my eyes to the Bible in ways I hadn’t experienced in all my decades of reading the Bible.”

2. Because it will make your relationship with Jesus real.

When we take a few minutes to pray on the mountain overlooking the Sea of Galilee, where Jesus went to pray, or stand in the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus went the night before He was crucified, you will never feel closer to Him!

It’s in those moments that Jesus becomes real to you. You love and appreciate Him even more.

Here’s what Jeanne felt, “There are several times when you feel so close to Jesus. It’s a very personal spiritual experience.”

3. Because you will have a “moment.”

One of my many “moments” on one of my trips was when I stood on the shore of the Sea of Galilee where Jesus called Peter, James, and John, and I thought, “I’m standing right where Jesus stood. It happened right here!” Wow.

Dave shared, “The whole trip was an unbelievable experience and I can't even put into words what it was like to pray in the Garden of Gethsemane and walk the path Jesus did on the way to His crucifixion. It gives me goosebumps just thinking about it! I'm going again and taking my daughter so we can share the experience together!”

4. Because you will LOVE the tour guide.

His name is Ronen. He lives in Jerusalem. You’ll be amazed at his knowledge of the Bible and the land. He’ll make you laugh, maybe even cry. You’ll return repeating his sayings. He’s the best Israel has to offer.

Several who went on the last trip plan to go again in 2021 because it was such a meaningful experience. Jerry (not me) summed it up well, “A life-changing experience of seeing the events and locations of the Bible unfold with every step you take.”
