The Full Story

In 1989, I was asked to be a part of a church that wanted to reach people far from God. That vision really spoke to me. Now, 30-plus years later, I’m still challenged to live that vision out in my life and in the leadership of our church.

As you may have expected, being a pastor for over 30 years hasn’t always been easy. But, God has been faithful in turning our challenges into opportunities to bring about positive changes in my life and in the lives of others. During these times, relationships have been built and incredible faithfulness displayed. I’m so grateful to be a part of a group of people who are faithful to God, our church and our vision.

What I Do

As the senior lead pastor at The Ridge, I provide leadership, which includes vision-casting, advising, leadership development, and teaching. I enjoy everything leadership-related – I enjoy studying it and developing it in people. When I think about the future of our church, I get excited because I see a group of dedicated people that have gotten behind the mission of trying to reach our community for Christ in a whatever it takes kind of way. God seems to be expanding our vision to take us beyond our community.

Life Before The Ridge

Before The Ridge, I went to Bryan College in 1978 to get my B.S. in Greek, and then on to Dallas Theological Seminary for a Master of Theology degree. After that, I took a job working with a Christian youth organization in Europe.

Words I Live By

“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:58

When I'm Not at Work, I…

…love to work out. I know it’s hard to believe, but fitness is my hobby. I participate in triathlons, and an occasional marathon. Fitness allows me to challenge myself, and I love the results it brings. I read anything I can find related fitness. I will be a Certified Personal Trainer in about a year.

Something That May Surprise You

I plan to retire in 2021. When I retire, I'm looking forward to praying a simple prayer, "God, what do you want me to do?" Then I will see where God leads!
